Adding air to your koi pond, farm pond or lake enhances the water quality by increasing the ability of the natural beneficia to do its' job. Naturally occuring bacteria thrives in highly oxygenated water. A healthy bacterial population transforms waste from fish and other organic sources, like plants and animals around the pond. The bubbling action of the air diffusers creates a current from the bottom of the pond to the surface. This movement causes increased surface area of the pond by keeping the water constantly in motion. The currents reduce the ability for toxic gasses and compounds to accumulate at the bottom of the pond. This can be a great way to reduce or eliminate wintertime or early spring fish kills. The moving water will keep a hole in the ice, preventing gas buildup under the ice.
If electricity is not available near the farm pond or lake, the air pump can be installed in a remote location such as a garage or house up to 1000 feet away for the lake sized systems (AM30 and AM60) and 300 feet for the Koi pond aeration Kits (Air 1 and Air 2). The air line can be installed in a trench all the way to the pond.
